Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her guidance and motivation to improving South African Social Security Company (SASSA) companies during an engagement with the agency's senior professionals at a strategic planning session in Cape Town.

Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled during the 2024 matric examinations.

In the 724 156 full-time learners who registered with the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, symbolizing 81% in the registered pupils within the education sector.

These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.

"This means that the investment decision government is earning from the lives of poor and susceptible youngsters is yielding a beneficial impact in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe claimed.

Reflecting on current achievements, the Minister highlighted key milestones and ongoing priorities. She devoted to urgently addressing the issue of lasting leadership appointments as well as the scarcity of staff at most regional offices.
